Ninety-nine marijuana plants were found at a Red Boiling Springs residence on Wednesday.
The Sheriff Department received a tip in the afternoon that husband and wife Kent and Jennifer Bolton were growing marijuana on their property at 2220 Willette Road. Three officers responded to the call: Det. Darrell Taylor, Sgt. Michael Veatch and Sgt. Ron Smith.
“We just followed up on the tip and went over there and did a knock-n-talk,” said Taylor, “and they gave us permission to search. Upon searching we found the marijuana grow room in the basement; it had grow lights, a watering system, and 99 marijuana plants.”
Taylor said that the two claimed they weren’t selling the product: “They said they just smoke a lot,” said Taylor.
Kent R. Bolton, 40, was charged with two counts of manufacturing narcotics and one count possession of drug paraphernalia. Jennifer, 36, had the same charges. They were both assigned a court date of April 24 and a bond of $20,000; they also both made bond.
