The Tigerettes continued their winning streak through a Wednesday night game against Christ Presbyterian Academy. This put them into the final Substate game against Creekwood, which is taking place Saturday night at Macon County High School. If the Tigerettes beat their opponents in this game, they will be among the 8 teams who go on to the State tournament. Either way, the game is bound to be an exciting one.

Tigerettes vs. Sycamore Lady Eagles
Last Monday, the Macon County Tigerettes did battle in the District Tournament against the Sycamore Lady Eagles. The Tigerettes went on to edge Sycamore and win the District 9-AA Championship 45-38. A strong defense helped push the Tigerettes to victory.
The first quarter showed the Tigerettes losing. Sycamore came out strong on defense and held the Tigerettes to only eight points. The Lady Eagles put up eleven in the first quarter. However, the second quarter was all Macon County. The Tigerettes scored fourteen points in the second quarter. Macon County’s defense also woke up, holding Sycamore to only seven points. The score at halftime was Macon County 22, Sycamore 18.
In the third quarter, Macon County continued their offensive firepower by putting up sixteen points. In the second and third quarters of play, Macon County hit four of their five three pointers of the game. The Lady Eagles only scored seven points in the third quarter, and the Tigerettes were leading 38-25. In the fourth quarter, Sycamore came out on fire. They hit a three pointer and started making their shots fall, scoring thirteen points in the fourth. Macon County, however, seemed tired and only scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Even after the scare that Sycamore would come back, the Tigerettes finished off the Eagles in the final seconds and won the game 45-38.
Terra Pryor led the Tigerettes in scoring with sixteen points. Pryor had three of the team’s five three pointers. Kelsey Gregory had ten points. Leah Anderson had seven points, Reese Shrum had five, Briley Driver had four, and Kailyn Brooks had three.
Tigerettes vs. Whites Creek Lady Cobras
After winning Districts, the Tigerettes ended their celebrations early and focused on Regions. Their first opponent was against the Whites Creek Lady Cobras. These snakes in the grass were no match for the Tigerettes’ explosive offense and lockdown defense. Even after a slow first quarter, the Tigerettes still went on to win their first game of Regions 48-35.
Their first quarter was slow. Only eight points were scored by Macon County in the first. However, the Lady Cobras only scored six, so the Tigerettes still had an early lead. In the second quarter, both teams started scoring better, as both of them scored eleven points. The Tigerettes led 19-17 after the first half.
The third quarter won the game for the Tigerettes. Macon County had fifteen points in the third quarter, as they hit three of their five three pointers in this quarter. The Tigerettes not only dominated on offense, but also crushed the Cobras on defense, allowing only four measly points. The score after three quarters was 34-21. In the fourth quarter, the Tigerettes defense slowed down, but their offense stayed red hot. Both teams scored fourteen points in the fourth quarter. The Tigerettes went on to win the game 45-38.
Kailyn Brooks the Tigerettes in scoring with 13 points. Terra Pryor had 10. Leah Anderson had eight, Kelsey Gregory had six, and Briley Driver had five. Reese Shrum, Whitney Wilburn, and Marisa Owens each had two.
The Tigerettes next game will be at Vol State against David Lipscomb Academy. Lipscomb is 25-7 and is a very talented team. The Tigerettes will need all the fan support possible to win! The game starts at 6:30. Come out and support your Macon County Tigerettes!
