Central students jump and raise $3,400 for AHA

The 2nd and 3rd grade students at Central Elementary School just raised over $3,400 for the American Heart Association. The annual fundraiser, called Jump Rope for Heart, allows students to do individual fundraising in the community and then pool monies. Students at Central were given three weeks to do this, and at the end of the three weeks—the jump rope party began.

During this fundraiser finale, students were divided into groups and took turns jumping, with heart-pumping music playing the background. The results were just short of mayhem, and the kids obviously loved it.

Central’s record amount for this fundraiser in previous years was $1,200, said organizer Tucker Smith: “So I set the goal at $1,500 to break the record, and I just checked the final numbers; they’ve done over $3,400. They’ve done awesome—I’m amazed.” About 400 kids participated.
