The RBS Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs Basketball program continued their season after a short break due to illness in Macon County. They played two regular scheduled games and then a makeup game last week. On December 4, the Bulldogs traveled to Gordonsville to take on the Tigers. After that, the Bulldogs returned home to host the Westmoreland Eagles. Then in a makeup game, the Bulldogs headed to Byrdstown to face the Bobcats of Pickett County.

Scoring Summary in Girls Action vs. Gordonsville on December 4:

First quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 6 Gordonsville Tigerettes 6

Second quarter-RBS Lady Bulldogs 14 Gordonsville Tigerettes 28

Third quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 30 Gordonsville Tigerettes 43

Final Score- RBS Lady Bulldogs 46 Gordonsville Tigerettes 54

The Lady Bulldogs attempted a total of 32 two point shots from the field only hitting 12 of them for 37.5% accuracy. From the three point line, the Lady Bulldogs only had 20% accuracy hitting 2 of 10 three pointers. They were put on the free throw line for a total of 27 times. The Lady Bulldogs hit 16 of those free throws for a total of 59.3%. Individual stats for this game:

From the 2 point range the Bulldogs only attempted a total of 5 shots, making 2 of those, for 40% accuracy. This was a major factor in the outcome of the game as their opponents attempted a total of 29 two point shots making 16 of those. The Bulldogs shot 15 three pointers and made 5 of them for 33.3%. The Lady Bulldogs had a big blow to their lineup during this game. Point guard Ashlyn Murphy went down early in the game with a knee injury. This wasn’t the first injury to Murphy’s knee. Late last season, Murphy underwent surgery to repair damage from a previous knee injury. Murphy was out for the rest of the game and possibly the rest of the season. During this game the Lady Bulldogs shot 18 times from the two point field. They only made 5 of those for 27.8%. Shooting 11 three pointers, the Lady Bulldogs successfully nailed 3 of them for 27.3%. The Lady Eagles sent the Lady Bulldogs to the foul line a total of 10 times. The Lady Bulldogs shot 60% from the line, making 6 of the 10 attempted shots. Individual stats for the game:

The Lady Bulldogs opened this game strong and didn’t let up until the final buzzard. The Lady Bulldogs were determined to win this game and that they did! They shot 28 two point baskets, making 10 of those, for 35.7%. The Lady Bulldogs had a great showing from the three point line. They shot 17 hitting 11 of them for 64.7%. They also had a strong presence at the free throw line. The Lady Bulldogs shot 20 free throws, hitting 14, for 70% accuracy. Individual stats for this game:

Having a great game was Lady Bulldogs #35 Mayson Burgener and #10 Kelsey Jenkins. Burgener finished the game with 17 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and 4 blocked shots. Jenkins finished the game strong with a total of 18 points. All of her points came from 3 point shots. She was 6 for 7 from the three-point line. She also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Since the November 23rd game against the Jackson County Blue Devils, the Bulldogs have still not had a full bench. Two of the five starters are still out sick (for a total of 3 Bulldogs out). Unfortunately the Bulldogs did not have it in them to keep up with the opposing team. Individual Stats for the game was:

With the close of the week the Lady Bulldogs overall record stands at 2 win and 8 loses. The Bulldogs record stands at 0 wins and 10 loses. The Bulldogs are at home this week. They host Watertown on Tuesday, December 11. Then, instead of a Friday night game, the Bulldogs will host the Smith County Owls on Saturday December 15. Game time is 6:00. Come out and support the RBS Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs.
