Law enforcement officers from across the state gathered in Macon County last week to further develop their skills as instructors.
Law enforcement is dangerous business and there is constant and ongoing turnover. The lifeblood of law enforcement is the Law Enforcement Instructor who are the ones who teach new skills and re-enforce existing ones for new and seasoned officers.
This 40 hour school is conducted by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) and is fully funded at no cost to officers or their agencies, by the Tennessee Governors Highway Safety Office (GHSO). The GHSO is instrumental in getting this school delivered to thousands of officers across Tennessee in order to develop qualified law enforcement instructors for all agencies in Tennessee.
This school was hosted by the Macon County Sheriffs Office and conducted at the new 911 Command Center Training room.
Instructors were Sgt. J.R. Ensor, retired from Johnson City Police Dept. and Lt. Ronald Adams of the City of Jackson, Tennessee.
There were 16 officers in attendance, including 4 local officers ; Michael Veatch, Ron Smith of the Macon County Sheriffs Office, Jacob Jordan, Asst. Chief Red Boiling Springs Police Dept. and Charles T. Dallas, Tennessee Constable, Macon County.
