Bucky Covington and two band members visited Lafayette L.B.J. & C. Headstart on Wednesday morning, November 14. Covington, who was a finalist on American Idol in 2006, has since released one album, which debuted at number one on the billboard Top Country Albums chart and produced three hit singles. His record label folded in 2010, just before the release of his second album, but he recently signed with E1 Music’s Entertainment One Nashville label.
“One of our parents is in his band,” said Kimberly Cox, Headstart Center Supervisor. “The parent was gonna come play because that class is studying music this week. We didn’t know if Bucky was going to get to come until the last minute.” Bucky did come, along with identical twin brother “Rocky” Covington, and Donald Medlock, the parent Cox referred to.
The trio ended their set with a rendition of The Hokey Pokey, which the kids, of course, joined in on. The Headstart Center thanks Bucky and friends for taking the time to come out.
