A Lafayette man was thrown from his vehicle and killed in a one vehicle accident on Union Camp Road Monday.
Joey Russell, age 45, was driving west in a 2001 white Dodge pickup. He traveled off the right side of the road and struck a driveway at about 1461 Union Camp Road.
THP Trooper Terry Seay, who took the accident report, said that the vehicle flipped at least twice, “maybe more.”
Russell was evicted from the vehicle, landing in a driveway, and the vehicle came to a rest about fifteen yards away in the middle of a homeowner’s yard. Russell was not wearing a seatbelt, said Seay. He also said that believed Russell was traveling faster than the 35 mph speed limit, judging from the distance the vehicle traveled.
Russell was unresponsive at the scene, and was taken by ambulance to Macon County General Hospital’s ER, where he was pronounced dead some minutes after arrival.
