The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs traveled to Scottsville, KY for December 28-29, to compete in the South Halton Classic (Tournament 2). They played two games there.

Scoring Summary in Game 1, Tournament 2, vs. Adair County on December 28th:

First quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 9 Adair County 16

Second quarter-RBS Lady Bulldogs 23 Adair County 29

Third quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 30 Adair County 50

Final Score- RBS Lady Bulldogs 37 Adair County 68

For the first half of this competition, the Lady Bulldogs fared well against Adair County. When the buzzer sounded, signaling halftime, the Lady Bulldogs were only down by six points. As soon as the third quarter started, whatever momentum the Lady Bulldogs had the first half of play apparently stayed in the locker room. They were outscored by 14 points (the Lady Bulldogs only scored 7 point) in the third. It was the same story in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs once again scored 7 points which was no match for Adair County’s 18 points. The game ended with the Lady Bulldogs on the bottom by 31 points. Once again, the Lady Bulldogs attempted several shots, but unfortunately wasn’t able to make them all. From the two point range, they shot 37 times, sinking 14, for 37.8%. The Lady Bulldogs attempted 15 three point shots, but only hit 2 of those, for 13.3%. They received 9 free shots from the foul line, making 3, for 33.3%. Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was:

#10 Kelsey Jenkins had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal

#14 Kaitlyn McCarter had 3 rebounds

#25 Mckinzie Hix had 2 rebounds

#33 Olivia Atkins had 3 points

#34 Sydney West had 1 steal and 2 points

#35 Mayson Burgener had 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 16 points

#40 Katie Hix had 7 rebounds and 9 points

#45 Hannah Smith had 2 assists

#50 Kalisha Lynch had 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 5 points

#52 Emily Gregory had 2 points

Scoring Summary in Game 2, Tournament 2, vs. Warren East High School on December 29th:

First quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 12 Warren East High School 12

Second quarter-RBS Lady Bulldogs 23 Warren East High School 19

Third quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 37 Warren East High School 26

Final Score- RBS Lady Bulldogs 45 Warren East High School 39

Much like the previous tournament the Lady Bulldogs were in, they came out during the second game ready to play. This was a fairly close game until the final buzzer. By the half, the Lady Bulldogs only had a small lead of 4 points. They maintained that lead until the end of the game, walking away with a win. Astounding enough, win they won the second game of the first tournament, they had 12 turnovers. During this second game of the second tournament, they also had 12 turnovers. As a team, they attempted 22 two point baskets, hitting 5, for 22.7%. From the three point arc, as a team, they shot 29 times, but only hit 6 for 20.7%. The Lady Bulldogs were sent to the free throw line 32 times and made 17 shots for 53.1%. Individual stats for the Lady Bulldogs:

#10 Kelsey Jenkins with 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 7 points

#14 Kaitlyn McCarter with 3 steals, 1 block, and 3 points

#35 Mayson Burgener with 5 rebounds, and 4 points

#40 Katie Hix with 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 5 points

#45 Hannah Smith with 2 rebounds and 3 points

And rounding out the stats with a whopping 23 points was Senior #50 Kalisha Lynch. She also had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 steals.

We the close of these two tournaments, the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs had a few days rest before returning to regular season action. They faced the Trousdale County Lady Yellow Jackets on January 4th.
