The Macon County Board of Education has announced closure of all Macon County schools for the Thursday, November 29, and Friday, November 30. Classes and all school activities have been cancelled for those two days.

This is due to an outbreak of flu-like symptoms among students, many of whom are suffering from viral infections, strep, and similar ailments. 575 students, or 13% of the student population in the county, had been affected as of Wednesday morning.

“Hopefully this will deter the spreading of it,” said Margaret Oldham, Director of Schools, “and we can be back in on Monday.”
