The RBS Lady Bulldogs closed another week of basketball this week at home. They hosted the Watertown Tigers and the Smith County Owls. Scoring summaries from the games are as follows.

Scoring Summary in Girls Action vs. Watertown on December 11:

First quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 18 Watertown Tigerettes 11

Second quarter-RBS Lady Bulldogs 27 Watertown Tigerettes 20

Third quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 35 Watertown Tigerettes 38

Fourth quarter- RBS Lady Bulldogs 53 Watertown Tigerettes 53

Final Score in overtime- RBS Lady Bulldogs 65 Watertown Tigerettes 57

The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs put on quite a show against the Watertown Tigerettes. The Lady Bulldogs grabbed a 7-point lead in the first quarter, helping the Lady Bulldogs to control the tempo of the game, which led them to a victory, but was not an easy one. During the second quarter, the Watertown Tigerettes answered the Lady Bulldogs run with both teams scoring 9 points each. At the sound of the halftime buzzer, the Lady Bulldogs were able to go to the locker at halftime with a lead of only 7 points, with the score being 27 to 20. Starting the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs momentum was strong coming out scoring 18 points to their opponents 8, however, the Watertown Tigerettes stepped it up during the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter went back and forth with the scoring. The Tigerettes scored 18 points to the Bulldogs 15. When the final buzzard of the game sounded, the crowd was treated with some extra basketball; the game had gone into overtime. The Lady Bulldogs was determined to win this game and that they did. During overtime play, the Lady Bulldogs went on an 8 point run defeating their opponents of Watertown in an exciting, close knit game. The Lady Bulldogs shot 37.5% from the two point line hitting 18 of 48 attempted shots. From the three point line, the Lady Bulldogs had 45.5% accuracy hitting 5 of 11 shots. They were sent to the free throw line an amazing 22 times. They hit 14 of those free throws for 63.6%. Rebounds proved to help the Lady Bulldogs to a victory in this game. Together as a team, the Lady Bulldogs grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and 19 defensive rebounds for a total of 35. Individual stats for the game:

And rounding out the game with an incredible game was #35 Mayson Burgener scoring 25 points during the game. She also had 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.

The drive the Lady Bulldogs had previously had earlier in the week did not show up during this game. The Lady Bulldogs could not keep up with the game that the Lady Owls brought. The Lady Owls outscored the Lady Bulldogs in every quarter (except the 3rd quarter when both teams scored 9) ending the game with the Lady Owls winning by 29 points. Turnovers by the Lady Bulldogs seemed to play a part in this game. They had 25 turnovers as a team, which is very unlike the Lady Bulldogs. They also had a total of 19 team fouls which sent their opponents to the free throw line several times. The Lady Bulldogs attempted 22 two-pointers but only hit 5 for 22.7%. From the three-point line, they shot 7 times only making 1 of them for 14.3%. The Lady Bulldogs were sent to the free throw line 22 times. They made 11 of those for 50%. With the close of this week the Lady Bulldogs overall record stands at 3 win and 9 loses. The Bulldogs record still stands at 0 wins and 12 loses. The Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs have a busy schedule before the holidays. They travel to Westmoreland on December 18th to face the Eagles. Then the Lady Bulldogs will be participating in the Classic Tournament at Pope John Paul II in Goodlettsville December 20-22 with times to be announced. While the girls are in this tournament, the boys will be traveling to Monticello, KY to participate in the All A’s Shootout Tournament on December 20 and 21 with times to be announced.
