The Macon County Arts Council’s 2012 Art in Real Life photography show culminated last week in a reception Citizen Bank. Best in Show and People’s Choice winners were announced, and the show’s one judge, Dawn Kingsley of Kingsley Photography, gave a talk on photography and her professional assessment of the contestants.
“What I really did was go into each category and look at the category as a group,” said Kingsley. “Whichever photo drew me in, I started with that one.” She went on to remind the amateur shooters that art is subjective and personal taste varies, and to encourage them to keep on shooting.
There were 47 total entries, submitted by 19 artists: Doug Bailey, Pat Bailey, Linda Capps, DesiRae Carter, Wynona Clayborne, Angie Coons, Tammy Driver, Janet Lea Dyer, Ginger Gibson, Eileen Herb-Witte, Betty Jo Marsh, Shirley Moore, Steve Morris, Joe Owen, Mel Perdue, Patty Petty, Casey Roark, Marilyn Wheeley, and Heather Williams.
