In the past two meetings, RBS came away with both victories. However, they knew coming into this game a win would be far from easy. The Lady Dawgs had yet to play in the Nera White gymnasium against a very loud and supportive Tigerette crowd. Several MCHS students had their chests painted, and everyone in attendance was pumped.
The first two baskets of the game came from Tigerette sophomore Courtney Clark. RBS was on the board when Kelly Rich shot a lay up at the 5 minute mark. Katelyn Gregory answered back with a three point basket, causing RBS to call its first timeout. The Lady Dawgs came out of the timeout pressing. Rachel Painter hit a 3, and Rich converted a lay up off of a turnover to end the quarter. At the end of the first 8 minutes of play, the Tigerettes led 15-12.
The Lady Dawgs were ready for a fight when the second quarter started. Painter hit another three, followed by a lay up and a jump shot from 8th grader Laken Leonard. RBS now had the lead by 4 points, but this would be the only time they would have the lead. Gregory hit a lay up and Holly Compton hit 2 free throws to tie the game. RBS coach Larry White was given a technical foul with about 2 minutes remaining in the half. Compton again hit both free throws giving the Tigerettes the 23-19 lead. After 2 Macon County timeouts, a turnover, and a missed shot, the first half was over. The Tigerettes went into the locker room with a 4 point lead.
The second half started with an RBS turnover. The Tigerettes were on fire! The four point lead would only continue to grow. The Lady Dawgs called a timeout with 5 minutes left, down by 10. Sircy and Clark would continue to get the job done down low. The Tigerettes started to quickly drift away from the Lady Dawgs. Coach White called another timeout with 1:46 remaining in the quarter. At this point, the RBS was down by 17 points. Leonard was the only Lady Dawg to put any points on the board for the rest of the quarter. At the end of three, the Tigerettes led, 48-30.
Lady Dawgs Tess Copas and Caylie Dickens, and Tigerette Sierra Conley each hit a 3 pointer to start the final quarter. Leonard fouled Compton, putting the Tigerettes into the double bonus. RBS called two back-to-back timeouts, but the Lady Dawgs just didn
