Four meth related arrests were made this week in Macon County, in connection with two meth lab discoveries.
Three of the arrests were the result of a bust at 555 Shrum Lane, in Lafayette. A search warrant on a Ricky S. Wilson was executed at the property at around 11:30 at night, according to Sheriff Gammons.
“Mr. Wilson had left shortly prior to the execution of the search warrant,” Gammons said. “On the premises was Marty Oldham and Sky Thomas. We did find a working meth lab inside of a cook stove in a shop on Wilson’s property. We also found some weapons—some were loaded. We also found two bags of white powdery substance, which was methamphetamine ready for resale.
“They also had several packages of pseudoephedrine pills, along with lithium batteries, a large amount of rock salt and ammonia nitrate, which is used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Also we had surveillance equipment on this shop building, which was used to make and sell methamphetamine.”
Three smoking pipes for meth were found in Sky Thomas’ vehicle onsite, according to officers. The 21-year-old was charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for this reason, as well as one count of promotion of methamphetamine, as it was found that she had purchased pseudoephedrine tablets for use in meth production. Later, she was charged with one count of introduction of drugs into county institution, for allegedly entering the Justice Center grounds with drug paraphernalia in her pocketbook. Her total bond was set at 70,000 for all charges, and her court date is scheduled for August 22.
Marty Oldham, 40, was charged with one count of promotion of methamphetamine manufacture, one count of possession of Schedule II drug, and one count of initiation of the process with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, as officers connected him to the meth and meth-production materials found on the property. His court date is August 22; bond was set at $50,000.
Ricky Wilson, 56, who was located and arrested three days later, was charged with one count of promotion of methamphetamine production and is waiting for an August 22 court date on $50,000 bond.
In a separate case, Jimmy Patterson, a registered sex offender residing at 4624 Old Hwy 52 in Lafayette, was charged with one count of promotion of methamphetamine manufacture. As a part of his status as a sex-offender, he is on community supervision for life, and is required to notify authorities whenever he changes job or residence.
“We went out on old Hwy 52 to serve a warrant for sex-offender [registration] violation,” said Det. Danny Crawford. “I located a cooler up under the trailer. I acquired consent from the landowner to search. I opened the cooler up, and inside I found the components to manufacture meth. After speaking with several people, I determined that Jimmy Patterson was the owner of the cooler.”
Along with the other charges, Patterson was charged with one count of promotion of methamphetamine manufacture. Court date is set for September 5, and his total bond amounted to $61,000.
