The Red Boiling Springs Council met in a special called session last week to accept bids on one of the two sewer pumps on Old Lake Road, after one suddenly stopped working.
“This was definitely an emergency meeting,” said City Recorder Coby Knight.
Three bids were received for new pumps and one bid to rebuild the old pump. A motion by Billy Joe Carver, seconded by Steve Newberry, to purchase a new Yeomans pump for $16,842 was passed unanimously.
The new pump comes with a five year pro-rated warranty and will be installed, when it gets here, by Wascon of Livingston. The pump is supposed to arrive in six to eight weeks.
Waste Water Superintendent Chad Owens said that the remaining pump is probably under some strain, but is holding up to the job.
“This is pretty routine,” said Owens. “There are two pumps at each station, and we have to replace them from time to time.”
