Last Friday, the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs traveled to Trousdale County to square off against a very tough Trousdale County Yellow Jacket football team in the final game of the season for the Bulldogs. The offense had a hard time getting any points up on the board, whereas Hartsville was able to post up 40 points in the 40-0 win for Trousdale County.
Although I am sure these boys would have loved to wrap up the season with a victory, one can still stay positive by how the season turned out. The Bulldogs finished out the season 2-8, and 1-7 overall in the region. This record matches that of the 2002 season when the Bulldogs also went 2-8. Until this year, the Bulldogs were in a bit of a winless drought that dated back to week nine of the 2002 season. This season should give the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs a bit of confidence and swagger going into next years season as they can build off of this year and carry it over to the 2010 season. The Bulldogs started off the season with a perfect 2-0 record with a 28-12 home opener win against Oakdale and a 23-22 thriller victory against a region opponent, Pickett County. These players worked hard all season and gave 100% on each snap. I’m willing to bet these players learned a lot about unity, dedication, responsibility, how to work hard and have fun. I have come to learn in my days of football that things like that are more important and will benefit you much more in life than a “W” or a “L” in the record books ever will.
