A Lafayette man has been sentenced to 62 years in prison for two counts of rape of a child, one count of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of incest.

The man, who is 31 years old, was found guiltily of those charges at a jury trial in Criminal Court in September.

Judge David Durham delivered the man’s sentence Wednesday, Oct. 28, during Circuit Criminal Court at the Macon County Justice Center.

The Times is not releasing the man’s name because naming the convicted, due to the nature of his crimes, could in turn reveal the identity of his victim. The Times does not name victims of sexual assualt.

Judge Durham sentenced the man to 25 consecutive years for each count of rape of a child and 12 years for one count of aggravated sexual battery.

The man was sentenced to six total years, which will run concurrent, for the two counts of incest.
