After discovering Kacy Fetters, a student at Red Boiling Springs, had a close family member overseas serving our country, Sherree Eubank and Lisa Mullinix decided to try to make the holidays a little better for our soldiers.
Eubank, advisor for FCCLA, teamed up with Mullinix, advisor for FBLA, to gather things to ship to Fetters’ brother and nineteen other soldiers of his troop in Iraq. Members of FBLA and FCCLA hung posters in the halls of the school in attempt to gain students’ support. Little by little, students brought chips, pillows, candy, chewing gum, puzzle books, and magazines.
On Friday, December 11, members of the two groups gathered the items up. After everything was in boxes, members got ready to ship everything off. Heather Jenkins, Mackenzie Painter, Kelsey Wilson, and Sagan Likens took the boxes to the post office in town at Red Boiling Springs. The boxes were shipped to the troop of twenty men in Iraq.
FBLA and FCCLA hope to inspire people to support our troops and a little help can go a long way. This project is just a small way to show our appreciation for keeping our country safe, not only during the holidays, but each and every day. Our love and support go out to the soldiers and their families.
From everyone at Red Boiling Springs High School, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
