The Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs both came back from their holiday break on January 3rd against rival Westmoreland. The girls started things off first. The Lady Bulldogs would fall in their game 43-22. RBS just couldn’t get an offensive spark.
From the time the first quarter started, Westmoreland had the Lady Bulldogs number. Westmoreland scored 12 points while holding RBS to 4. In the second, Red Boiling repeated their first quarter with four more points. Westmoreland, however, put up 16 points in the second quarter. The score at the half was 28-8 Westmoreland.
The second half continued to be bad for the Lady Bulldogs. They would score eight points in the third quarter, but Westmoreland would easily score 15 more. The score after three quarters of play was Westmoreland 43, RBSJH 16. In the fourth quarter, Westmoreland rested their starters and had no points. Red Boiling had six points, which brought the final to 43-22.
Abby Tuck had zero points, two steals, three turnovers, and two fouls. Kaylea Hatcher had two turnovers and no points. Amber Mccarter had no points and one turnover. Caylie Gann had 12 points, eight rebounds, a steal, a block, and three turnovers. Tamara Murphy had zero points and a turnover. Macy Raines had zero points. Bailey Tucker had two points and a rebound. Grayce Crouch had four rebounds and no points. Shaylee Ellingson had no points and four turnovers. Bailey Morgan had two points and seven turnovers. Cayley Tuck had four points, three rebounds, and two turnovers. Lauren Henson had two points, one assist, one steal, and one turnover.
After the girls fell to Westmoreland, the Red Boiling Spring Jr. High Bulldogs went to avenge the Lady Bulldogs’ loss. They would easily take care of Westmoreland, winning the game 57-29. The Bulldogs offense fired on all cylinders.
The first quarter was fantastic for the Bulldogs, as they scored twenty points while holding Westmoreland to only nine. The second quarter was another blowout quarter for the Bulldogs, as they outscored Westmoreland 18-4. The score at halftime was 38-13 Red Boiling.
The second half wasn’t any better for Westmoreland. The third quarter showed RBSJH scoring eleven points and Westmoreland scoring eight. The fourth quarter showed both teams scoring eight points, but, in the end, the Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Bulldogs escaped with a huge victory 57-29.
Elijah Byfield led the team in scoring with 10 points. He also had three rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Long also had a good game, with eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. M. Tirjan had seven points, a rebound, an assist, and two steals. Tirjan’s brother had eight points, three rebounds, and a steal.
