The council voted to adopt Resolution #9-11-03 thanking Joe Dale and Jackie Owens for providing parking for the antique car show.
They tabled discussion of the dog ordinance until more research could be conducted by council members because council members believe that, like Ordinance #03-8, only parts of the dog ordinance could be enforced. Among other things, the dog ordinance requires a $5 license tag fee for dogs who reside in the city of RBS and subjects owners of unlicensed dogs to a $50 fine. The problem, according to Mayor Gregory, is determining the ownership of an unlicensed dog, particularly since there are so many homeless dogs who live in and around Red Boiling Springs, or roam the near countryside. The ordinance is not designed to deal with the stray dog population, however, but rather to encourage dog owners to vaccinate and license their dogs and establish a fair consequence for those that don't.
On a related matter, the council voted down the suggestion by Beckie Dunlop, Director of Lafayette's 2 x 2 Ranch and Refuge, to provide a free license tag to the first 20 RBS dogs to sign up for the free spay and neuter clinic 2 x 2 is hosting in October .
The council also discussed the budget for this years Christmas decorations in the park and elsewhere.
