Gordonsville Tied For 1st Place In District

It Depends On Cannon Game

Preliminary Commentary from Coach Chad Butler:

We had our district coaches' meeting this Friday. Gordonsville and RBS were tied for first in the district, each with a district record of 14-1 with one game to play. We won the coin toss, so as long as we defeat Cannon Co. Monday night, we will be number one and the top seed at district tournament. Also, Ellie Boles was voted MVP of our district, and Ciara Green and Crystal Allison were voted into the All-District Team. I am very proud of them, but I am equally proud of everyone on the team, whether they received the honor or not. They have all worked very hard this year, and they all deserve recognition.

RBS v. Smith Co., 2 out of 3, RBS wins

CUMULATIVE STATS

Crystal Allison: 3 aces, 9 kills, 1 block; Jaclyn Jordan: 1 ace, 3 kills; Ellie Boles: 2 aces, 3 kills, 1 block; Jamie Smith: 1 ace, 2 kills; Jenna Langford: 1 kill; Ciara Green: 5 aces; Megan Patch: 2 aces, 2 kills/

Commentary from Coach Chad Bulter:

Smith Co. has some good hitters and servers. Luckily, our girls were able to handle most of their hits and serves so that we could get the win. We were also supposed to play Cannon Co. Tuesday night, but a power outage stopped play for the night before we had a chance. We will play them this Monday night at Upperman to make up that game.

RBS v. Livingston Academy, 2 out of 3, RBS Wins

CUMULATIVE STATS

Crystal Allison: 3 aces, 5 kills; Jaclyn Jordan: 5 kills; Ellie Boles: 6 aces. 6 kills; Jenna Langford: 1 kill; Ciara Green: 5 aces; Megan Patch: 1 ace.

Commentary from Coach Chad Butler: Livingston played us a good game, though the score doesn't necessarily reflect that. They are accustomed to a much higher ceiling in the gym, and our low ceiling caused them a lot of problems when they tried to pass. I guess you could say that the ceiling was our seventh man during this game. It is likely that we will face them in the district tournament, so we may get a chance to see how we measure up in a gym with a higher ceiling.

RBS v. Clay Co., 2 out of 3, RBS Wins

CUMULATIVE STATS

Commentaryfrom Coach Chad Butler:

Clay County is a first year team, but they are the best first year team I have seen. They have some very tough servers, and they are really good at keeping the ball in play. It was really fun for our girls to play them.
