Dear Parents/Guardians:
Macon County High School invites you and your child to attend a Pre-Registration meeting concerning your child’s plan of study. It is required that all students entering the ninth grade and their parents or legal guardians attend the 8th grade Orientation/Pre-Registration; however, we are also offering the opportunity for parents of current high school students to participate in the pre-registration process. At each grade-level Pre-Registration meeting, school counselors will review requirements for graduation and register your child for courses for next year.
If your child has an IEP, it is optional for you and your child to attend Pre-Registration since this information will be provided and classes will be chosen at the time of the IEP meeting. Furthermore, due to space limitations, we ask that only parents/legal guardians attend the Pre-Registration meetings with their child. The meetings will begin at 6:30 pm each night in the Macon County High School auditorium. The schedule for each current grade level is as follows:
*Monday, March 11………….…….Sophomores * Monday, March 18………………….Eighth graders (A-J) *Tuesday, March 12…………………Freshmen * Tuesday, March 19………………….Eighth graders (K-Z) *Monday, March 25…………………Juniors
If you or your child is unable to attend, we will have the Power Point presentations for each grade level, along with course descriptions and state and local board policies, available on our school website at www.maconcountyhs.com. Prior to attending, we strongly suggest that you visit our website and the Tennessee State Department of Education’s website at www.tn.gov/education for more information regarding the Tennessee Diploma Project, Career-Technical Education Programs of Study, and Tennessee Scholars. The information provided on these websites can assist you and your child in selecting courses for next year.
Sincerely,
MCHS Administration and Counseling Center Staff
