Maxine Long, 72, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Monday, September 20, 2004 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. The Clay County, Tennessee native was born Thursday, March 10, 1932, a daughter of the late D. W. Jackson and Loma Browning Jackson. She was a retired machine operator for Imperial Reading and a member of Lafayette Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on March 14, 1947 to Clarence Eldon Long, who preceded her in death in 1983.

She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Regina and Bobby Bransford, Lafayette, TN; Rhonda Snyder, Smyrna, TN; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Arlene Long, of the Galen Community; Randy and Karen Long, Lafayette, TN; Reed and Sue Long, Hendersonville, TN; a brother, Felix Jackson, Red Boiling Springs, TN; a sister, Elsie Phillips, Red Boiling Springs, TN; 10 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, and 9 great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Long, 3 brothers, Robert Jackson, Edward Jackson, and Lawrence Jackson, and a sister, Lucille Donoho.

Funeral services for Maxine Long were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer officiating. Burial was in Leonard Cemetery near Red Boiling Springs. Pallbearers were Cory Bransford, Josh Long, Chris Long, Curtis Parrish, Richie Harper, Danny Evetts, Scotty Browning, and Tim Harp.

Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.
