Macon County Peewee Football 6th Grade Blue Team Wins Tobacco Bowl Area Championship
This past Saturday, the 8th annual area tournament was held in Hartsville, Tennessee and was sponsored by the Trousdale County Youth Football League. There were four teams that were invited to play this year which were Macon County, Westmoreland, Trousdale County and Gordonsville. All 4 of these teams are very good teams and are well coached. They each represented their league and their community well. In the 1st game, Macon County defeated Westmoreland 37-0. The 2nd game had Trousdale County winning over Gordonsville 18-6 with this game deciding their regular season championship as the rain had postponed some of their games this year also. The 3rd game had Gordonsville defeating Westmoreland 19-14 in a very close game and the final game had Macon County winning over Trousdale County 48-0.
The stats for our team for both games were as follows: In the 1st game against Westmoreland which Macon County won 37-0, Tanner Lowhorn had 170 yards, 3 TD’s and 8 tackles; Gene Carman IV had 59 yards, 1 TD and 3 tackles; Logan Grace had 30 yards rushing, 24 yards passing with 1 TD; 2 2-pt conversion passes and 3 tackles; Evan Perrigo had 2 receptions, 1 TD, 1 2-pt conversion reception and 5 tackles; Dalton York had 1 3-pt extra point kick and 6 tackles; Matt Austin had 5 tackles and 1 2-pt conversion reception; Jedediah Coley had 5 tackles; Kenny Bailey had 3 tackles and Kameron Dyer had 3 tackles.

On a personal note: This Thursday night at 7:00 at Pat Parker field here in Lafayette, our 6th grade blue team will be playing a 7-1 Pickett County team. Pickett County has played a lot of independent teams this year so this should be like a junior high game. We have had several good 6th grade teams come through our league over the past 14 years but this year’s team has a lot of good talent. We have size, speed and are well-coached in all positions. We ask everyone to come on out this Thursday night and support our team as we take on this team. Also we will be participating in the Allen County Patriot Bowl this coming Saturday as our 9 and 10 year old team and our 6th grade team will both be participating in this tournament.
