Election Day will be here before you know it—November 6, 2012. Election Administrator Barry Doss wants to make sure everyone is prepared. “The big thing is I want to make sure everyone knows the last day to register to vote is October 8,” he said. “It’s a holiday, but we’ll be open.” Major dates to be aware of:

November General Election—November 6, 2012

Last Day to Register to Vote—October 8, 2012

Last Day to Request an Absentee Ballot—October 30, 2012

First Day of Early Voting—October 17, 2012

Last Day of Early Voting—November 1, 2012

Hours during early voting will be Monday to Friday, 8:00-4:30, and Saturday, 8:00-12 noon. There will be one late closing night: Thursday, November 1, the polls will be open until 7 PM.

There are several reasons that a person would qualify for absentee voting, including hospitalization, being in a caregiver positions, being in school away from home, etc. Doss encourages anyone with questions to contact him at 666-2199.
