Last Monday, the Macon County Jr. High Tigerettes took on the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs. The Tigerettes would control the Lady Bulldogs, beating them 40-13. The Tigerettes had a barrage of scoring that overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs.

The first quarter was a long and difficult quarter for the Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs only had 3 points at the end of the first quarter (a bucket and one), whereas the Tigerettes racked in 13 points. It was 13-3 Macon at the end of the first. The second quarter was slow as well, only this time both teams struggled. The Tigerettes had 7 points, and the Lady Dawgs had only 5. The score at the end of the second quarter of play was Macon 20, RBS 8.

The second half wasn’t kind to the Lady Bulldogs either. They only had 5 points the entire half and those came in the third quarter. It seems their stamina went down and didn’t come back. They played hard, but it just wasn’t enough. The Tigerettes, on the other hand, played an impressive second half. They had 20 points and just seemed to outmatch RBS. Macon County had 12 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth.

Bailey Morgan led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring in this game. Bailey had 5 points and was 1-4 from the three point line and 1-1 from in close. Although she had 6 turnovers, she made up for them with a steal. Cayley Tuck led the way in rebounding, as she snagged 4 rebounds, one of which was offensive.

Later, the Macon County Jr. High Tigers took on the Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Bulldogs in an in-county smack down. The Tigers would easily take this game over RBSJH, beating the Bulldogs 57-23. The Tigers were an offensive and defensive machine.

The first quarter was a very long quarter for both teams. Both teams didn’t shoot the ball well. At the end of the first quarter, it was only 9-6, but the Tigers were ahead. The scoring broke out in the second quarter, as the Tigers put up 14 and RBS put up 9. At the end of the first half of play, the Tigers were ahead 23-15.

The second began in the Tigers favor. Once Ashburn hit a three, the scoring opened up for the Tigers, as they flooded in 22 points in the third quarter! RBS, on the other hand, struggled heavily in the third quarter. RBSJH would score only 2 points in the entire quarter! The score at the end of the third was 45-17 Macon. The fourth quarter wasn’t any kinder to RBSJH. The Bulldogs scored only 6 points in the fourth quarter, whereas the Tigers scored 12. The final score was 57-23 Tigers.

For the Tigers, Seth Carlisle led the team in scoring and rebounding. Carlisle shot 7-11 with 14 points and 3rebounds, one of them being an offensive rebound. Another big player for the Tigers was Ashburn. He had 11 points and shot 3-3 from beyond the arc. He also had 3 rebounds, one being offensive.

For the Bulldogs, Russell and Byfield led the way with scoring, each picking up 5 points. Bergdorf and Tirjan led the way on rebounding, each picking up 3 rebounds.
