Jr. Bulldogs Overwhelm Pickett County Bobcats

The Red Boiling Springs Junior High Bulldogs moved to 2-1 on the season last Thursday night, with an impressive 50-6 win over the Bobcats of Pickett County. These are two basketball schools that are trying to get their football programs on the right track, and after Thursday night it appears the Bulldogs are on the right track. The first scor eof the game came on the opening kickoff as Shelton Watson took it back 60 yards for a Bulldog touchdown. Lance Grooms went in for the two point conversion and the Bulldogs led 8-0. It wasn't long before the Bulldogs were on the offensive once again. This time Watson scored by air, as Jake Stiles and Watson hooked up from 40 yards out to put RBS up 14-0. Another stop on defense got the ball back for the Bulldogs, and Grooms went in from 12 yards to give RBS a 20-0 lead. Watson carried the ball for the two point conversion as the Bulldogs led 22-0 at the end of the first quarter. Red Boiling would score just once in the second quarter, as quarterback Jake Stiles went in from 3 yards out to give the Bulldogs a 28-0 lead going into halftime. The second half was the Lance Grooms show, ashe scored three touchdowns and a two point conversion. Stiles also hit P.J. Kernell for another two point conversion play as the Bulldogs walked all over Pickett County by a 50-6 final. Grooms led the Dawgs in rushing carrying the ball 12 times for 171 yards and 3 TD's. Stiles was 7-11 on the day passing for 172 yards and a touchdown. Logan Arms led the Bulldogs on defense, recording 6 tackles and 3 assists, with a sack, and a fumble recovery. The Bulldogs will be in action again thisThursday, as they host the Watertown Purple Tigers. This will be 8th grade night and homecoming, as the festivities are scheduled to start at 5:30 P.M.
