Former Macon County Roads Supervisor Charles “Chop” Porter was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Friday morning and taken to Macon County General Hospital with minor facial injuries.

Porter was traveling towards Lafayette on Akersville Road in a white Suzuki Sidekick, and according to THP Trooper Danny Fisher, a Timothy Day backed out into the southbound lane of Akersville Road. “Mr. Porter couldn’t avoid the impact and just struck the back of Mr. Day’s pickup,” said Fisher.

Day’s vehicle, a 2000 GMC pickup truck, didn’t sustain much visible damage. Porter sustained minor cuts to the face, presumably from the windshield glass of his vehicle. He was transported to MCGH, where he was treated and released.
