Thomas Hanby, 45, 9609 Old Hwy. 52-west, Westmoreland, was arrested on a narcotics warrant from Sumner County by Macon Sheriff's deputies and Westmoreland Police.
Deputy Kyle Petty and MCSD Sgt. Ron Smith, accompanied by Westmoreland PD officers served the outstanding Sumner County warrant on Hanby last Tuesday, August 11.
The officers asked to search Hanby's vehicle and residence and after receiving permission found two ammunition containers containing about one and one-half pound of marijuana packaged for sale. They also found $4,440 in cash, and confiscated eleven weapons including shotguns, rifles and pistols. Hanby's 2003 Dodge Crew cab pickup was also seized, after drug paraphernalia and residue of marijuana cigarettes was found in the man's residence.
Hanby was taken to Sumner County but returned to Macon County on Friday, August 14 where he was charged with Manufacture of Narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000.
Sheriff Mark Gammons complimented the Macon County officers, including K-9 handler Mark Bartly and his dog, "Buzz" on their fine police work in connection with the arrest of a individual who was apparently actively engaged in the lucrative sale of the popular controlled substance.
