At tonight's City of Lafayette Council meeting, Harvey Kirby of Meador Enterprises appeared before the Council to request a six-month deferment of their rent.

"We're asking that our rent be deferred for six months. We're trying to save ten jobs," said Kirby. "These people are Lafayette, Macon County citizens. One of our major customers has bankrupted, and we are going to be carrying on with their operation. We need some time to try to deal with that customer base and, hopefully, keep those ten people working."

"If we're going to save some jobs, I make a motion that we do it," said Councilman Loryn Atwell. The motion was seconded by Councilman Richard Bransford and went on to pass unanimously.
