The Allen County Singing Convention will hold its annual New Years Eve Gospel Singing on Thursday night, December 31st at the Allen Co. - Scottsville High School Auditorium in Scottsville, KY. The program will begin at 7:00 PM CST. Groups appearing will be: The Local Quartet from Bowling Green, KY; Eternally Blessed from Westmoreland, TN; Holders from Westmoreland, TN; Sullivans from Scottsville, TN; Freda Maynard and Friends from Scottsville, KY; and Grace Henson from Scottsville, KY. Nick Wiegert will preach at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, December 27th at 6:00 PM.

Closed for Holidays

The L. B. J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Centers will be closed December 21 through December 31, 2009 and January 1, 2010. Children and staff will return to the Head Start Centers on January 4, 2010.

The L. B. J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Central Office will be closed December 23, 24, 25, 2009 and January 1, 2010.

City Council Meetings

2010 Lafayette City council meetings - Council meetings are scheduled on the first Tuesday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. Any public hearings or changes in the schedule will be announced prior to the meeting.

January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, Sept. 7, October 5,

November 2, December 7.

Closing for Holidays

The Macon County Mayor’s Office will be closed Thursday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th, & Monday December 28th, 2009 For the Christmas Holidays. The office will also be closed on Friday, January 1st, 2010 for New Years! Happy Holidays!

Holiday Closings for County Libraries

Macon County Public Library and Red Boiling Springs Branch Library will be closed for

Christmas Thursday December 24, Friday December 25, and Saturday December 26.

Both libraries will be closed for New Year’s on Friday, January 1.

Meeting

The United Daughters of the Confederacy Captain Sally Tompkins 2123 will meet Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the upper level of the Putnam County Library. Please contact 931- 738-5869 if you have a Confederate ancestor or further questions.

Holiday garbage pick up

The Lafayette City Hall will be closed December 24th and 25th in observance of Christmas Holiday. Thurs. and Fri. garbage routes will be picked up Monday the 28th. Mon. & Tues. 28th and 29th will be picked up on Tuesday the 29th. City Hall will be closed Friday, Jan. 1st. Friday’s garbage route will run on Thursday, Dec. 31. Please have trash out the night before your scheduled pick up date through the holidays.

County Commission

Pursuant to T.C.A. 5-5-113, the Committee of a Whole of the County Commission of Macon County, Tennessee, shall assemble itself at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Courthouse in Lafayette, Tennessee
