On June 17, 1943, Carl Lee Trent was born in Macon County to the late Vestal Darling Trent and Lillie Mae Burgdoff Trent. Carl Lee was one of ten children born to this union. Besides his parents, brothers, Jerry Wayne Trent, Ricky Dale Trent, and Terry Lee Trent; sister, Debbie Kay Hawkins; and daughter-in-law, Sharon McGuffy Trent, also preceded Carl Lee in death.
Carl Lee married the love of his life Janie Marie Sullivan on November 3, 1962. Life for Carl Lee and Janie was spent making a home for their sons, Keith, Kenneth, and Chris and daughters, Tammy, and Angel. Supplying the necessities for his family was of the uttermost importance to Carl Lee. When the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, Carl Lee couldn’t be with them enough; they were his life.
Carl Lee worked for Macon County Highway Department for several years before retiring in 2003.
Fishing was one of Carl Lee’s biggest hobbies; if the fish were biting he could stay all day.
He was saved thirty-six years ago on a Sunday night in July of 1979. Carl Lee later was baptized and joined Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.
Carl Lee had a great personality; he was always full of fun and wore a smile on his face. Carl Lee was someone that would give you his last nickel. Friends always enjoyed the time they spent with Carl Lee and his family. He always enjoyed having all his family around. It didn’t have to be a special occasion. Any time they were around was special for Carl Lee. Family was the joy of his life. Carl Lee would sit around with all his family and say “This is what Life is all about. How could anybody want anything else?”
