Barton Shockley, 70, of 57 Barton Shockley Road, Scottsville, KY died at 9:54 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. The Red Boiling Springs, TN native was a retired employee of North Central Telephone, a carpenter, a member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Communication Workers of America. He was a son of the late Ben Shockley and Mecie Freeman Shockley.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Shockley, Scottsville, KY; 3 sons: Cordell Shockley and wife, Tammie, Benny Neal Shockley and wife, Sandy, and Tim Shockley and wife, Leann, all of Scottsville, KY; 1 daughter: Lorie Short and husband, Charles, Glasgow, KY; 2 sisters: Eunice Eaton, Glasgow, KY and Mettie Brooks, Auburn, KY; 1 sister-in-law: Lucille Shockley, Glasgow, KY; 9 grandchildren: William Shockley, Tabitha Whitlow, Amy Lee Shockley, Latishia Shockley, Sarah Shockley, Nicholas Shockley, Catherine Mitaikostas, Elizabeth Mitaikostas, and Adam Short; 2 great-grandchildren: Dalton Whitlow and Reagan Whitlow; 2 step-grandchildren: Lucas Slavy and Tyson Baker; and 3 step-great-grandchildren: Zoe Baker, Tosha Slavy and Josie Slavy.

Funeral services for Barton Shockley were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2006 at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Eaton and Bro. Terry Disman officiating. Burial followed in Fountain Run Cemetery.
