Retired auto diesel mechanic Mr. Lanny Satterfield died at the age of 74 at his Sanders Ferry Road home in Hendersonville Saturday afternoon June 16, 2013 under the care of Alive Hospice following a long struggle with cancer.
Tuesday afternoon June 18th funeral services were conducted by Bro. Joel Johnson from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Following the 1 p.m. services burial was in the Hackett Family Cemetery in Kempville.
Born Lanny Scott Satterfield in English in Crawford County, Indiana on March 18, 1939, he was one of three children of the late George Arvil and Margery Ann Scott Satterfield.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Barton Satterfield who died December 25, 1984.
On September 2, 1960 in English he was united in marriage to the former Sandra Kay Lankford of Nashville.
They had met while he was a student in Nashville at the Nashville Auto Diesel College where he graduated in 1959.
Mr. Satterfield retired as a diesel mechanic from Yellow Freight Systems in 1991. He was a 1958 graduate of Dupont High School in Dupont, Indiana. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church in Gallatin.
Surviving in addition to his wife of almost fifty three years are two sons, Steve Satterfield and wife Karen of Gallatin, Lyndon Satterfield and wife Gina of Hendersonville; sister, Kay Ann Roberts and husband Donald of Marengo, Indiana; three grandchildren, Lyndra, Braydon and Jessica Satterfirld.
