Mother Nature caused the rescheduling of games this week, but finally Macon Co was able to complete their regular schedule games against Upperman High School with a double header on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Game 1: Macon County was guest on the scoreboard. Hunter Williams would take the mound for the Tigers and hold off the Bees of Upperman from scoring for two innings of play. In the third inning, the bats for the Bees would sting Macon’s defense for 7 runs. Macon couldn’t get anything going on offense with only four hits for the game. Carnahan went 2 for 3; Boone & Jacob Brown would go 1 for 3. Upperman would win 8 – 0.
Game 2 : The Tigers and Bees would go into their final regular game of the season. With post season tournament action set to begin on Saturday, Coach Clariday would limit the number of pitches from the mound. The Tigers would begin the game with Justin Woodard to pitch for 2 innings with 2 hits and 1 strikeout. Jonny Brown would mark his last performance on the home field for Macon for 1 inning with 3 strikeouts. Brandon Noles would take the mound in the 4th for 2 innings pitched allowing 2 hits, 2 strikeouts, and 2 walks. Daniel Ashburn would enter in the 6th allowing 1 hit and 1 strikeout.
Kristopher Boone would take his first season performance on the mound for 2 outs in the final inning of play. Senior, Austin Craighead would come in for the final out of the game. The Tigers were limited to only 4 hits for the game, a double by Craighead and run scored; single by Jonny Brown and a RBI; Ashburn went 2 for 3 with a double. Final score of the game Upperman 5, Macon 1.
This night was also Senior Night. With a large crowd on hand, seniors Austin Craighead and Jonathan Brown were recognized by their family and friends.
District Tournament is set to begin in Murfreesboro, Saturday May 3. Macon is scheduled to play Central Magnet at 2:30 pm at the StarPlex Field.
