The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs played in the Scottsville Tournament at the end of December. They played hard, lost two out of three games and came in 5th. Their first game, against Simon Kenton, was played on December 30th. It was not a close game, but the Lady Dawgs played all out. #10 Kelsey Jenkins put 12 points on the board. #25 Mckenzie Hix made 11. #12 Ashlyn Murphy and #35 Mayson Burgener made 4 points each. #14 Kaitlyn McCarter made 3. #33 Cayley Tuck made 2 and #52 Maggie Isenberg made 1. The girls put 8 points on the board in the first quarter, 18 in the second, 5 in the third and 6 in the fourth. They made 5 of 21 two-point and 4 of 11 three-point baskets, 15 of 17 free-throws, 5 offensive and 4 defensive rebounds, 7 assists, 8 steals, 25 turnovers and 13 fouls. They lost 37-63.


They played Warren Center next and lost 26-53. #35 Mayson Burgener made 9 points. #33 Cayley Tuck made 5. #45 Hannah Smith and #10 Kelsey Jenkins each made 3. #12 Ashlyn Murphy and #40 Shaylee Ellington each made 2. #25 Mckenzie Hix and #44 Lauren Henson added 1 point each. They put 4 points on the board in the first quarter, 3 in the second, 11 in the third and 8 in the fourth. They made 5 of 23 two-point and 2 of 13 three-point baskets, 10 of 16 free-throws, 5 offensive and 20 defensive rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, 1 block, 27 turnovers and 14 fouls. Tough game!


Their third game, on December 31st, was played against Warren East. The Lady Dawgs won 59-36. With 14 points, #35 Mayson Burgener was the top scorer for Red Boiling Springs. #45 Hannah Smith and #25 Mckenzie Hix each made 9 points. #33 Cayley Tuck made 7. #44 Lauren Henson made 6. #12 Ashlyn Murphy made 5. #10 Kelsey Jenkins, #14 Kaitlyn McCarter and #40 Shaylee Ellington each made 3. The girls hit the game hard, making 18 points in the first quarter to Warren East’s 3. They added 16 points in the second quarter, 11 in the third and 14 in the fourth. Overall, they made 13 of 34 two-point baskets, 5 of 19 three-point baskets, 18 of 21 free-throws, 9 offensive rebounds, 24 defensive rebounds, 12 assists, 16 steals, 4 blocks, 18 turnovers and 20 fouls.


On January 3rd, 2014, Red Boiling Springs played an away game against Trousdale County. It was their first game this season against Trousdale and both the boys’ and the girls’ teams won their games. The boys won 55-41. The girls won 64-25. The Bulldogs put 6 points on the board in the first quarter, 15 in the second, 15 in the third and 19 in the fourth. #12 Brince Crouch was the top scorer with 15 points. #25 Nick Deckard was second with 13. #11 Zane Roberts, #15 Alex Mullinix and #23 Ty Tuck each scored 8 points. #14 Chance Asberry scored 3.


The Lady Bulldogs made 18 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 21 in the third and 13 in the fourth. They made 16 of 36 two-point and 5 of 15 three-point baskets, 17 of 26 free-throws, 6 offensive and 23 defensive rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals, 1 block, 14 turnovers and 18 fouls. They kept Trousdale to 25 points in the game and won 64-25. #35 Mayson Burgener made 18 points in the game. #10 Kelsey Jenkins made 11. #33 Cayley Tuck made 9. #14 Kaitlyn McCarter made 8. #44 Lauren Henson, #12 Ashlyn Murphy and #30 Abby Tuck made 4 points each. #25 Mckenzie Hix, #40 Shaylee Ellington and #45 Hannah Smith contributed 2 points each. They play Trousdale again on February 4th.
