Macon County High School continues to improve their game and record. They played Clay County on December 17th. The boys won 58-44. The girls won 51-39. Head Coach for the boys Jason Welch said not only the teams but also their parents and the coaches look forward to the every-other-year Gatlinburg Tournament. In addition to the games, the Lafayette envoy got to enjoy some of the beauty and charm of the Smoky Mountain community.

“The Gatlinburg Tournament was good for us,” Coach Welch said. “We won two hard-fought games and then played a really good team, Gatlinburg-Pittman, 16 and 1, and we scored 79 points. For our confidence and our experience it was fantastic. Going to Gatlinburg is something we look forward to every other year. And it was a success. We won two games and came in 2nd. We also had a chance to relax and rode go-karts and played put-put. Everything was good and everybody made it home safely.”
