Slow month for RBSHS Basketball

The varsity Dawgs and Lady Dawgs played away games against Gordonsville on December 3rd and Watertown on December 10th. They lost both games. Their home game on December 7th, against Webb, was cancelled due to inclement weather. They are scheduled to play an away game against Mt. Juliet on December 14th, a home game against Westmoreland on the 17th of December, an away game against McClain Christian on December 19th and a rematch with Mt. Juliet in Red Boiling Springs on the 20th. The rest of December will be occupied with tournament play: the Scottsville Tournament for the girls and the Nera White Tournament for the boys. Let’s hope the weather holds so we can see them play.

12/3/13 RBSH v Gordonsville Boys 24-56

The Dawgs lost their December 3rd game against Gordonsville 24-56. They scored 3 points in the first quarter, 10 in the second, 2 in the third and 9 in the fourth. With two 3-point baskets, #23 Ty Tuck contributed 6 points to the game. #15 Alex Mullinix added 5. #11 Zane Roberts added 3. #25 Nick Deckard, #12 Brince Crouch, #50 Dallas Greanead, #21 Elijah Byfield and #30 Briley Anderson each added 2 points to the game.

12/3/13 RBSH v Gordonsville Girls 34-37

The Lady Dawgs also lost to Gordonsville on December 3rd, but only by three points. At 34-37, their’s was a much closer game than the boys’ game played on the same night. They put 7 points on the board in the first quarter, 5 in the second, 15 in the third and 7 in the fourth. They had a 9 point lead in the third quarter but lost it in the fourth when Gordonsville made an impressive comeback. With a total of 18 points, including six 3’s, #10 Kelsey Jenkins was the leading scorer for the game. #35 Mayson Burgener had 8. #45 Hannah Smith had 3. #12 Ashlyn Murphy added 1 point to the score and #25 McKinzie Hix and #33 Cayley Tuck each contributed 2. Overall, the Lady Dawgs made 6 of 10 free-throws, 5 of 23 two-point and 6 of 22 three-point shots. The completed 11 of 13 rebounds, had 3 assists, 7 steals, 15 turnovers and 15 fouls.

12/10/13 RBSH v Watertown Boys 44-64

On Tuesday, December 10th, the Dawgs lost 44-64 to Watertown. They put 10 points on the board in the first quarter, 7 in the second, 12 in the third and 15 in the fourth. With 14 points, #12 Brince Crouch was the high scorer for the game. #15 Alex Mullinix was the second highest scorer with 11. #23 Ty Tuck contributed 8 points. #25 Nick Deckard contributed 3. #14 Chance Asberry contributed 3. #22 Michael Tirjan and #11 Zane Roberts each contributed 2 points and #10 Chase Long contributed 1.

12/10/13 RBSH v Watertown Girls 38-47

On the same night, the girls lost 38-47 to Watertown. They made 10 points in the first quarter, 16 in the second, 6 in the third and 6 in the fourth. #10 Kelsey Jenkins was the leading scorer with 12 points. #35 Mayson Burgener made 7. #12 Ashlyn Murphy and #25 Mckenzie Hix each made 6. #14 Kaitlyn McCarter made 5. #33 Cayley Tuck added 2. Overall, the Lady Dawgs made 8 of 16 free-throws, 9 of 28 two-point and 4 of 8 three-point shots.
