Myers appointed THCC Program Coordinator
Barbara Myers a 22 year resident of Cookeville, and former TRW manager and quality control engineer, has recently been appointed Program Coordinator by the Tennessee Health Care Campaign for the Upper Cumberland .
This position is being funded by a grant from Cookeville Regional Medical Center to assist in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Myers will be supervising fifteen THCC-UC volunteers who received training to assist those needing help with their applications for Health Insurance Coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. These volunteers have the training to provide information and resources to help interested individuals understand the benefits, eligibility for subsidy, tax credits and cost sharing, and the enrollment process. They can help with understanding the various marketplace options and the availability of financial assistance. These are not the government Certified Application Counselors.
Other THCC-UC volunteers are helping with information workshops and telephone assistance for those wishing to know more about their options. THCC UC is coordinating its work with other organizations to provide information and outreach to help those thousands of individuals who cannot afford their current insurance or who are uninsured and fit the eligibility guidelines.
