JERSEY COUNTY — The Illinois State Police released preliminary information regarding an accident that occurred on US Route 67 neat Stagecoach Road in Jersey County at approximately 1:37 p.m. Thursday.


According to the ISP release, a 2007 Lexus was traveling southbound on Route 67 and crossed the center line. Traveling northbound at the same time was a 1996 Peterbuilt semi. The pair of vehicles struck head-on 300 feet south of Stagecoach Road.


The driver of the Lexus was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries, according to the ISP release. That motorist was transported by ARCH to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.


The ISP investigation is ongoing and the names of the motorists have not been released.
