A 16-year-old MCHS student escaped with just a few scratches after sideswiping a tractor-trailer on Hwy 52 Tuesday morning at about 7:45 a.m.
The unidentified minor was driving west bound on Hwy 52 a green Ford 250 when he swerved into the oncoming lane and struck a Peterbilt semi that was traveling east bound. He hit the truck toward the back of the trailer, knocking a tire off the rim and severely damaging his truck.
Trooper Justin Mote, who took the accident report, said that it was possible that the young man had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Neither party was seriously injured but the driver of the Ford was taken to Sumner Regional Medical Center as a precaution.
