Commissioner Hughes gave the invocation and Commissioner Phillips led the pledge to the flag. County Clerk Howser called the roll with fourteen members present. (Boles is no longer a member, due to becoming Director of Schools.)

The following notaries were elected: Amy McKissick , nominated by Tucker; Leslie West, (Phillips); Gail Glasgow, (Bartley); Lorrie A Wright (Tucker); Angela M Lewis (Hesson); Angela Deaton (Snow); Reba McCall (Hughes); Carrie A Vanmeter (Tucker).

The minutes of the following meetings were approved: Commission 6-6-14, Committee of the Whole 7-7-14; Planning 5-20-14.

Resolution #1-7/20, Removal of Vegetation and Debris, was adopted. This measure was discussed previously at the 7-14 meeting. It allows the county to enforce laws requiring the removal of unsightly and dangerous overgrowth on private property.

Resolution #2-7/2014 was adopted, approving the low bidder to approve the water line funded by the CDBG grant. “We had a bid opening on July 11, and Kemp Brothers Construction was the low bidder at $436,950,” explained Mayor Shelvy Linville. “However, there was a discrepancy. They only had figured two inservice connections, but there were 35 they should have figured. But that increased their bid by $29,700, which actually made the total bid $466,650. But they were still the lowest bidder.” Kemp’s estimate was approved.

The board voted to authorize the oil and chipping of a small parking lot area between the Macon County EMS Building and the Board of Education.

The board voted to sell a delinquent tax property at 906 Hawkins Road for $1,600.

The board voted to advertise for bids to sell an old 1990 Ford ambulance van.

The board voted for West Macon Rescue to scrap out an old trailer flat bed belonging to the Squad. This money, along with money received on the sale of the 1990 van, will go toward getting a new flat bed to put on.
