The Macon County Board of Education met on Thursday, January 9. They voted to donated $20,000 to the Macon County High School Marching Tigers for new uniforms and other supplies, and to loan an additional $16,000. The loan will be repaid over the space of four years.


Other business conducted:


The board approved the Board Agenda and Consent Agenda.


The board approved to post a new Cross Country Assistant Coaching position for MCHS.


The board approved the following TSBA policy revisions on second reading:

The board tabled a vote on the purchase of security cameras for MCHS for next month’s meeting.


The board approved an agreement between the Macon County BOE and Mid-Tenn Engineering Co. for professional services.


The board approved to revise Policy 6.4031 Pediculosis (Head Lice) on first reading.


The board approved to adopt the Flea/Bed Bug Proposal.


The board held a discussion on the school calendar for the 2014-14 school year. School teachers will be presented two options for this calendar. The selected calendar will then be presented to the board for a vote of approval.


The board voted to donate an unused metal outbuilding to the Lions Club.


The board tabled a discussion on the CTE position for next month’s meeting.
