On Saturday, August 16, Macon County Arts Council is pleased to welcome Terri Merryman, well-known local writer, to our community. She will be presenting a book review, program and book signing for the recently published “Thorns on a Rose”.

The event will be held at the new Geraldine Hire Community Room in the Macon County Public Library. The library is located at 311 Church Street in Lafayette. Ms. Merryman’s program begins at 10:00, with the book signing afterwards until 12:30. The community is invited to attend.

“Thorns on the Rose” is a very personal and moving story by local author Rose Reid. Ms. Reid was born, raised, and still lives and works in Lafayette.

Ms. Merryman writes in her review:

“At fifteen, Rose had it all–friends, a loving family, a job, and her own bank account. She wasn’t looking for romance until Clay, a handsome cowboy with a gentle kiss, changed all that one summer’s night. Their love story would span three decades until his family intervened and turned this fairy tale into a modern-day Romeo and Juliet; exposing everyone’s true character and putting Rose’s life in jeopardy.

“As you form your own opinions about spineless Clay and his decisions, the red flags missed and the opportunities wasted, you might not be able to put this book down–although you will be tempted to throw it across the room. It’s a story full of twists and turns, love and hate, reality and fantasy and it’s based on true events. You can’t make this stuff up.”
