The Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met on May 13 for their Founder’s Day Celebration at Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Linda McCrary, President, presided over the meeting. An inspiration was given by Sandra Smith followed by a delicious meal provided by Linda’s Cakes and Catering.
The society installed two new members Regena Copas and Scarlett Hudson, both educators at Red Boiling Springs Elementary School. The following new officers were also installed for the 2014-2016 biennium. Wynona Clayborne, President; Dale Reid, First Vice president; Andrea Marsh, Second Vice President; Donna McCory, Recording Secretary; Dawn Thompson , Corresponding Secretary; Teresa Gregory, Treasurer; and Linda McCrary, Parliamentary Advisor.
A program was given on the history of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society by Beverly Smith, Xi State President. She also encouraged all members to become active in the organization on all levels, local, state and also on the international level. Four members of the group were recognized by the Awards Committee for their contribution and years of service to the chapter. The members recognized were GeorgiaAnn Boles, Cynthia Hudson, Linda McCrary, and Carolyn Winn.
After a business meeting the group adjourned with the state convention being the next scheduled meeting to be held in Sewenee, TN at the University of the South in June. Hostesses for the meeting were Marion Casady, Wynona Clayborne, Tammy Marlowe, Carolyn Winn, Dale Reid, Dawn Thompson, and Margaret Cook.
