The Macon County Relay For Life team and committee meetings were held on Monday, February 24. Those in attendance were:


Melissa Shrum – Macon Co. Schools; Melissa Bates – Event Chair; Connie Blackwell – Macon Co. Courthouse & Luminarias; Laura Merlo – Circle of Friends; Anthony Merlo – Circle of Friends; Tony Fuqua – Macon Co. Schools; Brooke Sims – Nestle Waters; Tilly Dillehay – Macon Co. Times, Publicity Chair; Deena Sadler – Measure Up; Anna Wilson – Survivors & Caregivers; Diane Cook – Macon Co. Courthouse & Luminarias; Regina Dies – Event Co-Chair.


The even theme for 2014 Relay For Life is “Fight For Life.” Relay For Life will be held Friday, June 6 at Key Park, beginning at 6 pm.


The following fundraisers are currently underway:


Circle of Friends is holding a raffle, with a large handmade afghan as the prize item. This afghan is circular and about 6 feet across. Tickets are $1, and can be purchased online at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/lkmerlo. The winner will be drawn on the day of the Relay event.


The Macon County Times is hosting ‘Winter Blues’ on March 15, and Nestle Waters and Measure up are both hosting in-house food sales.


Luminaria sales are up and running; see Diane Cook or Connie Blackwell at the Macon County Courthouse to purchase.
