Seven individuals, four of whom were minors, were involved in a wreck Friday night that sent four of them to the hospital. The accident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on the west side of the county, at Hwy 52 and Oak Dale Road.
Vehicle one, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling west and driven by 44-year-old Tina Driver of Lafayette. A passenger in the vehicle was 46-year-old Carlin Stone, also of Lafayette. THP Sgt. Ed Crouch said that the two were headed to work in Portland.
Vehicle two, a 1989 Chevy pickup, was headed the opposite direction on the highway. It was driven by a 17-year-old female from Lafayette. Passengers in this vehicle included 18-year-old Samantha Grimes, as well as a 17-year-old male and a 1-year-old infant; all are Westmoreland residents. Riding in the bed of the truck was another minor, a 15-year-old male, also from Westmoreland.
This truck turned left to enter Oak Dale Road, but pulled into the path of the Hyundai, according to Crouch.The two vehicles collided at relatively high speed.
Carlin Stone was transported by ground to Vanderbilt Medical Center. All three teen passengers of the truck were also transported by ground, to Skyline Medical Center. The infant and the teen driver of the truck were not transported.
Traffic citations were pending at press time. All three minors had been released from the hospital and were at home.
