The Macon County Fair Board honored UT Extension County Manager Steve Walker last Thursday, unveiling a new name for the livestock barn on the fairgrounds. Walker was surprised with the reveal of a newly painted sign reading “Steve Walker Livestock Arena.”

Walker, who has lived in Lafayette with his family since 1982 working with UT extension, served on the fair board for many years and acted as Fair Manager from 2008 to 2013. The current Fair Board made the decision to honor Walker with the naming of the livestock barn.

On Thursday, June 26, before the 4-H livestock show, a dedication ceremony was held. Jeff Hughes, Fair Board Member, said a few words on the occasion, and Walker responded, thanking the gathered crowd.
