The Lafayette Fire Department acquired a new tanker last week, out of funds provided from the county through the disaster recovery grant awarded to Macon over a year ago.

“This is the first completely new tanker that we’ve ever gotten,” said Fire Chief Keith Scruggs. “Usually we get them slightly used.”

The truck was purchased from Rosenbauer through Southern Energy Products, Inc., and a company representative was on hand Friday to accept a final check completing payment for the tanker.
