NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has obtained an indictment for a Trousdale County woman accused of stealing from the charity effort she led.

At the request of 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson, TBI Special Agents began investigating Jennifer Claridy on May 1st. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information the Hartsville woman, who led an effort called “Christmas for Kids”, wrote checks payable to herself from the charity's bank account on several occasions from January to April 2014. In all, Claridy admitted she stole approximately $9,500, claiming to have financial hardships from her recent return to college.

On Tuesday, the Trousdale County Grand Jury returned an indictment for the 51-year-old, charging her with one count of Theft. She was later booked into the Trousdale County Jail, then released on her own recognizance.
