In a bizarre incident this week, a woman was arrested for breaking and entering a rental property, putting on the clothing of the house occupant, and remaining inside the house. Allegedly, the arrested woman did not know the occupant of the house and had no obvious connection there.

On May 18, 2014 Macon County 911 received a call from a property owner that he had found his rent house back doors busted open and found a female subject still inside the residence. MCSD Deputy Pam Whitlow, Deputy Kevin Templeton, and Sheriff Mark Gammons arrived at the scene soon afterwards.

According to the arrest affidavit, Deputy Templeton approached the back of the residence and observed the property owner standing outside the residence with a firearm. The property owner stated that he was keeping the female subject inside the residence from leaving. Deputy Templeton entered the residence and observed a female sitting on the floor. He ordered her to lay face down on the floor and Deputy Whitlow placed handcuffs on her. The female subject was identified as Brandi Renee Miller.

Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield commented, “The investigation determined that the renter of the property came in from work early on Sunday, May 18th and found glass broken out of her back door and believed her residence has been broken into. The renter left the residence and went to get the owner, and had him to come back to the house. When the land owner got to the home, he did find a female inside the residence, at which time he dialed 911.”

During interviews, it was discovered that Miller had broken into an outside shed on the property and found a hammer and then broke glass at the residence and went into the home.

While inside the residence Brandi Miller did go through the resident’s personal property and take a pair of pants. At the time of being taken into custody Miller was wearing clothing of the renter.

Brandi Renee Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property and vandalism. Court is set for 6/18. $4,500 bond.
